Other Names: Waxy monkey leaf frog, painted belly leaf frog.
Where Found: These frogs are found in the rain forests of Northern South America.
Breeding: These frogs rarely ever spend time on the ground. They have developed an amazing strategy for laying eggs in the trees. The eggs are laid on a leaf, the leaves are then folded up into a packet keeping them moist and safe. Once the eggs hatch, the tadpoles fall into the water below the trees.
Habits: These frogs are referred to as monkey’s because they usually walk instead of hop resembling the way a monkey would move through the trees. They are a slow moving species spending most of their days basking in the sun, while feeding at night on various spiders and insects.
